My Little Daughter

April 30, 2016

In August of this year my beautiful wife is set to deliver our daughter. When my wife first told me that she was pregnant I was stunned. But in a good way. We had been trying for awhile and finally it happened. We were both very excited. A couple weeks later we went in to find out the sex of the baby. We both just wanted a healthy baby, but we both were pushing for a boy. My two older brothers already had girls, so my wife had pretty much summed up that we were having one also. To me boys are easier. I think growing up a man in society is easy. Here and there life gets hard, but overall women are the ones being judged all the time. A woman can't be a boss in the workplace without being criticized for how she got there. To no shock, we were told we are having a baby girl. That day Mia Juliette was given her name.
Today my wife is about 24 weeks so far. I've felt Mia kick already and it surprises me every time. Daily now I been thinking of what kind of woman she is going to be. Is she going to be athletic? Is she going to be smart? Is she going to be goofy like myself? My wife wants her to be in dance or gymnastics. I want her to be in basketball or soccer. My wife was a dancer all the way thru high school. I love playing sports. I've even looked up ballet classes for toddlers. Yeesh I've realized these activities can get expensive. You know you want the best for your children and right now this guy can dream. I want to give her the best chance to succeed in life.
I've thought about the personality traits I want her to have and the way I hope she will be. I want her to have my wives' personality. She isn't afraid to speak up and loves being the center of attention. Myself I can't talk in front of people without freaking out. I want her to have my goofiness. I'm a big goofball when it comes to my close friends and family. Humor is a big part of my life, I enjoy making people laugh and seeing people smile. My wife wants her to have my skinny genes. Throughout my life I've had a very small waist, even though I've eaten more then I should. The one trait I really hope and I'm pushing for is, I hope she is strong. Now I don't mean physically (even though it wouldn't hurt), but mentality.
One thing I don't want for her is to be walked on by people. I want her to be able to stand strong even in the face of adversity. This brings me back to women having harder lives. Women have to be a perfect. They have to be good at being a Mom, a worker, and look like a model at the same time. They can't show weakness without be criticized. I want her to be able to take care of herself and not have to worry about someone carrying her through life. I know I'm going to be able to show her no matter what life hits you with, that as long as you have confidence no one will ever bring you down. But that if she does need help, that she can always come to me.
Mia isn't even here yet and I'm already worried about her. I know I love her so much and she is going to change my life. Thank you for reading.
